The Blue Houses of Romania

A quite melancholic project, but still dear to my soul.

As our country is developing fast, many remote villages are slowly fading away, young people are moving to the cities for better oportunities and never come back. It has happened in other countries too. It's the slow end of a long rural way of life. Beautiful, traditional houses are abandoned to crumble. You cannot feel anything but blue at such a loss, so I chose the blue ones as a theme. The people you see in these images are most likely the last souls to be sheltered by these houses before they become dust. In some places younger families are renovating and saving these old houses so there is some hope..
